Basically, you suddenly become very suspicious of why your bosch dishwasher is not draining at the end of a cycle.
After using the appliance to carry out some certain chores of the day, it’s expected to drain automatically by itself but it gets stuck.
If it doesn’t drain automatically and you attempt to drain but it just won’t drain after a cycle, then a problem is likely lurking around.
While experiencing this issue, the most likely causes include a faulty drain pump, stuck dishwasher filter, clogged drain hose and air gap.
Don’t worry, I’ll be highlighting some more causes and the simple ways you can fix this problem in the article ahead.
Why My Bosch dishwasher not draining at end of cycle
Notice that we highlighted a few main reasons why this issue occurred above, now we’ll be going into details.
Also, this will include other possible reasons for this.
Number 1…..
1. Clogged Dishwasher filter
If your bosch dishwasher filter is clogged, the dishwasher obviously won’t drain regardless of whether it’s at the end of a cycle or not.
The filter is responsible for trapping residual food particles in order to avoid clogging the drain pump.
When this filter gets blocked and dirty to a certain extent, your dishwasher will begin to have drainage issues.
2. The drain hose is clogged
I remember when I had to remove tons of visible clogs and kinks from the inside of my dishwasher’s drain hose.
It’s something you should do if the appliance isn’t draining.
Actually, it won’t take much of your time to do this, it’s another common cause why your dishwasher won’t drain at the end of a cycle.
When the drain hose is clogged with food particles and soap scum, it prevents water from draining out especially after a cycle.
3. Damaged drain pump
The drain pump usually kicks into action whenever a cycle has been completed on the dishwasher.
It pumps and forces the release of water out of the dishwasher through the drain hose.
If the drain pump becomes faulty and is unable to remove water, it becomes stuck and won’t drain water during the drain cycle.
4. The air gap is blocked
An obstructed air gap may not be able to allow the passage of water out of the dishwasher if it’s blocked.
Generally, the air gap is responsible for preventing wastewater from getting back into the dishwasher.
If found to be blocked, it could be another reason why your bosch dishwasher isn’t draining at the end of a cycle.
Solutions To Bosch Dishwasher Not Draining At End Of Cycle
Now, we’ll be talking about ways to fix this issue without paying a dime. I
The fixes below aren’t difficult ones and should only take you a few minutes.
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 10 minutes
Fix 1: Inspect the dishwasher filter
Depending on your model, most bosch dishwashers have their filters located at the bottom of the dishwasher tub. For you to inspect, you need to remove this component.
To remove, rotate the filter anti-clockwise then pull it out. Wash the filter with warm soapy water.
Then clean and let it dry. Once it’s dry you can reinstall and attach it back to its position.
Just ensure that you’ve cleared all visible debris and clogs while washing it.
Fix 2: Inspect the drain hose
The drain hose is the next component you need to check out. Make sure that you’ve disconnected power to the dishwasher in order to prevent electric shocks.
Inspect the hose to see if there’s any clogs in it or if it’s kinked. Firstly, if you find any blockages you can use your hand to get through them.
Better still use a straightened wire hanger or anything that can get through, just avoid damaging the hose.
Sometimes you can use a drain programme to flush the drain hose. Now, for the kinks all you need to do is straighten it out to all the free flow of water.
After doing this, you can reconnect the hose back to the dishwasher.
Fix 3: Inspect the drain pump
To inspect the drain pump, you initially need to get access to it. It’s usually located at the bottom of the dishwasher.
You need to remove the bottom basket and lift the filter unit in order to get access to the drain.
Once you have access to it, check and make sure it’s not clogged, see if you can find any foreign objects in it.
If you find any of these, then you have to remove them.
Sometimes it’s recommended that you replace the whole drain pump; perhaps the issue still persists.
Fix 4: Check the air gap for blockages
The air gap too also has a role to play in all of these. If the air gap is blocked, your dishwasher likely won’t drain properly at the end of a cycle.
To locate the air gap, check the sink or the countertop and then remove the cap.
Once you’ve located the air gap, look for any blockages and clean it very well.
Fix 4: Replace the control board
If any of the above fixes doesn’t seem to solve the problem, you might need to replace the control board.
The control board is responsible for almost all vital functionalities of your dishwasher. If it stops working properly, it can affect the drainage system of the appliance.
While doing this, you contact an appliance professional to help you out. You should be able to replace the control board on your own if that’s what it requires.
But you definitely need a little bit of experience and skills to do that.
You can see that carrying out all of these procedures should not really cost much of your time.
Final Thoughts
